What causes a 999 "suspicious ramp" map problem

Post by RallyChris
Example intersection

I've played with it, and as long as I have the off ramp and the on ramp connected to the intersection I get the 999. If I disconnect either or both the 999 goes away. What is suspicious about an off ramp and an on ramp, for the same freeway, meeting at the top of an overpass? :)

My approach is to ignore the 999 errors, rather than falsify an intersection to accommodate the software.

This problem will only show up on ramps that have a node (junction) with a different road.
However, our map system suspects (based on angels and the fact that it's a ramp) that there shouldn't be a node, rather a separated ramp on a different height level. Most times, the required action is indeed to separate the ramp, usually move it on top of the other road.

(in a way, this is the opposite of problem #1 where two roads intersect without the existence of a node. With problem #1, the road doesn't have to be a ramp, but still many times the solution is to separate the heights of both segments).

Not sure about that one, never ran into it myself. Best guess is because the off ramp and on ramp connect to each other. May have to wait for a developer to tell us for sure.

Yeah... thought that might be the case. But tried all sorts of not connected combination and turn restrictions (by choice, and not by choice :) ). Basically anytime the on ramps are touching, the 999 comes up.

Oh well... just have to fight the "must fix all numbers" OCD

For those of us with kill-all-the-major-problems OCD, I was able to suppress the 999 by creating a tiny diamond of ramps in the middle of the intersection with the over-passing road:

Probably overkill, and I'll wait until I've solved all the other problems in my area before doing it again. So don't hold your breath!
