Map Editor major ver (Nov 5, 2012) Official Feedback

Post by
Hi guys,

We have just released a new major WME version. This version has been developed and tested for a long time and we'd like to thank our amazing beta testers for all their help and input.

What's new?

1) Improved UI including full screen map display
2) Play mode for new editors (before logging in)
2) Alternate street names
3) New tab for house numbers (in the editing panel)
4) Cones and old ranks are now synced and displayed everywhere as follows:

old rank 0 = 1 cone
old rank1 = 2 cones (currently not in use)
old rank 2 = 3 cones
old rank 3 = 4 cones
old rank 4 = 5 cones
old rank 5 = 6 cones (currently not in use)
old rank 6 = STAFF

5) New "area managers" layer
6) Ability to drag layers
7) Segments directions marked with A and B
8) New keyboard shortcuts available
for examples:
- highlight empty streets SHIFT+D
- Draw new gas station or parking lot P for parking G for gas station
See all keyboard shortcuts in the list ("Shift + ?")
9) Many bug fixes

I hope you guys will all enjoy these changes!
Please feel free to share your feedback...

Thanks,

Shirli

If you zoom out to a certain level, they have always disappeared (zoom level 4). But they do reappear for me when zooming back in (Chrome/Win7). If you can confirm they positively do not appear when zoomed in to level 5 or higher?

press '?' for al shortcuts :)
Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

The answer to my question is <shift>z.
I changed mine to Shift+v because I like to call it View All Turn Restrictions, so V makes more sense to me. It does take a lot of time to get used to not hitting Shift+a, though. I think I still do it out of habit after several weeks. You could always remap or unmap the AM layer shortcut and just access it via the GUI instead.

New WME looks great - but found a little problem:
The "+" to add roads etc. overlays the layer selector - see attached jpeg.
How can I change this ? Is it only a problem at my desk ?
That happened to at least one person during the beta last week, and it appeared to clear itself somehow. I'd make sure you clear your cache, disable scripts/extensions related to Waze, restart the browser.

We believe it says that for everyone by default now and isn't correct. It shows the same for country managers. It was reported during the beta and they said they would fix it. There were several bugs/issues which are in this release they said they would fix but did not.

Shift+a: Area Managers layer toggle
Shift+f: full screen mode
Ctrl+a: select entire street

Changed

Not everyone knows this: it has been in the documentation for a while, but you can remap shortcut keys.

I want to no if you can provide a hyperlink to the previous version of WME (something like "https://world.waze.com/cartouche_old")

-> yes or no and if yes please post the link!
No, the old editor is offline and no longer available for NA and World. It has been a long time coming and is finally gone. Now we can get on with having a more stable and responsive system.

In that case, then no. When there is an editor upgrade like this, it replaces the old version.

Right now, it is of no use. But, for those who do have streets which go by multiple names, it is nice to have the data be totally correct.

I use it because often, highways or routes overlap. The primary name is used for the name most used, and alt name is where other names or routes are input. In my state of the US, all highways are named, and those usually have a route #, but not always.

Also, the primary name is used for shield creation, but alternate names can hold a local name if the route name is the most popular local name.
