*whew* That had me worried. I'm glad they didn't have to undo our work, because I'd put in some double-time in my uneditable area.

It'd be nice if we could add house numbers to more than one segment of a street.

I like the new feature that highlights empty street names; now I can spot short unnamed streets. Is there any way that this feature can filter out Parking Lot Roads? None of these roads are ever named, or should be, so it makes the feature slightly less useful. Also, maybe a new segment type for joining 2 one way streets at cross roads so that they have different names going different directions. They have the same unnamed problem as parking lot roads.

Right now, it is of no use. But, for those who do have streets which go by multiple names, it is nice to have the data be totally correct.

I use it because often, highways or routes overlap. The primary name is used for the name most used, and alt name is where other names or routes are input. In my state of the US, all highways are named, and those usually have a route #, but not always.

Also, the primary name is used for shield creation, but alternate names can hold a local name if the route name is the most popular local name.
Agreed but with the final death of Cartouche there is now no ability at all to edit that data. Even if incorrect, it's locked in without an ability to edit it. I'd love to adjust what's in a lot of highway segments now that shields are working, to be able to use the local or official "name" on a road and put the Hwy designation number in the alternate. I occasionally took the effort to load up cartouche and add the alternate designations but as I wasn't sure how well it was really working I hadn't made much of an effort to do so. Now should we want to we can't. My opinion, cartouche shouldn't have been killed (perhaps locked to CM status editors) until that feature was available in the WME. And any remaining level 6 locks will be much slower to get unlocked as we could do that in cartouche.

Funny, I'd deliberately looked for that before and it wasn't there but now when I click on the same section of freeway I first looked for it at, the link to add/edit an alternate is indeed there. I retract.

This is being looked into by management. Right now, the TOS/Privacy Policy doesn't allow it. It may be as easy as modifying that, but we're not sure.
Which is funny as there is no problem identifying the person who addressed the UR in the email the system kicks out. That is a double standard.

I think someone's just dragging their feet and trying to make a good sounding excuse.

I don't mind people seeing that daknife was able or not able to solve the problem. But that's why you have the username and PM'ing via the forum to enable the communication. Seeing a username does not reveal an identity. It doesn't even give us an email address to try to associate with a real person. Just a username, that will send an email to the user without giving me at the sending end any way to see who is getting the email. It's actually a very private system, thus that argument totally fails.

It would really be nice if the behavior was that primary AND alt names should be scanned for something that generates a shield...

+1
And another +1
The local name should have precedence and be on the primary, with the shield being pulled from the alternate while the primary name is shown.

Yep seeing this too, and since last weekend's problems if I change the zoom level, every now and then it goes to just highlighting the segments. The only fix is to save all changes to that point and then reload the page.

Often the only solution for such a loop is to delete it as one piece, save your changes and then redraw. It's one reason such loops are such a big pain is that once created in the system, you can't edit them, you can only delete them.
