I got him to clean up the 3rd permalink. It's better now, but still needs tweaking. IMO, Philadelphia Rd doesn't need to be split at all from there northeast.

But that is the question - how do I stop people like this. I searched for that handle on the forums and don't see it. I don't know how to contact/stop him/her.

I don't see any need for Philadelphia Rd to be split. But I'm betting the basemap had it split from the I-695 ramp to Rossville Blvd, so that is likely the one thing that mandatory training won't necessarily solve.

If that happens, contact your country manager(s). They will also try to contact him. If they also fail, they can request support to take action (lower editing rights or if it is really necessary a ban).

Editing restrictions and protection of the map has been implemented in some other countries, and seems to be working well, but we're still trying to figure out a way to do it in the U.S. that won't overwhelm the senior editors, being that we have as many editors in one country as the entirety of Europe has.

Ouch my eyes, I don't want to see the UR's you get for that one.

When I find an editor adding roads incorrectly, like you I did a search of the forums, I rarely found a positive match. I made the assumption, that if they registered with Waze, then Waze has their email address on file. I then sent them a PM, with links to the wiki pages for the item, intersections, parking lot roads etc, that were done incorrectly and explaining what was wrong. Sometimes you get a reply, and sometimes you don't. If after a couple days I don't get a reply, I go to the Permalink I saved and fix and lock the road. If it wasn't for some of the tools it would make it harder to find changes made by certain people.

Yes, I agree with your statement. There should be some on-line test after they've watched the Waze video and done a few edits before they can get to update the live map. All users when first registered get view only. You have to work your way up to get more edits privs.

Recently an editor in Northern VA went through a section of Route 1 just outside the beltway and did something similar. He went through and split the road and mapped every single turn lane as separate, added every parking lot and managed to completely ruin routing along route 1. Unfortunately I didn't notice it until the UR's started popping up. I've fixed it and locked Route 1, but I know he'll be back at the parking lots mapping every aisle. I tried PM'ing with no response, not sure how to handle him. It seems these things happen everywhere.

The area in question has been fixed. I PM'ed him and he cleaned up most of it, seems he thought each lane should have it own road! I've gone through and cleaned up the last of it.

But with that said, there should be a system that if someone doesn't respond to PM's and gets enough complaints he looses some access.
