Correcting City Name?

If you click the Permalink below, some portions of the city are listed as "Newport New" instead of NEWS with the S. The wrong spelling is contained in drop-downs for street names, etc, as well.

Is there an easy way to "globally" update the incorrect city name to the correct one?

Thanks!

No, but if you use Chrome and install the custom highlighting script, you can use it to highlight segments by city name for faster identification.

The Highlighter Script is located here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=25806

It looks like someone did a bunch of the cleanup already... I just grabbed two more I saw...

What does the STATE consider that area?

Then that's what it should be labeled.

Connected... I also fixed a few other small things that weren't edited to match the Best Editing Practices. If you have any questions about why I did what I did, feel free to ask...

Would the editor automatically correct the overlay name and remove it from the side dropdown as a choice once the last instance of the wrong name is corrected? Or do you need to wait until the tile refresh?
The editor removes the choice once there are no more nearby instances of the name. However, the city overlay doesn't always update as frequently as the tiles. There is also some talk that the city never actually is completely purged from the database and thus may still be an option is some circumstances.

I'm not currently seeing any mispellings in these areas. Maybe you have fixed them all.

Alan - can you post a link to the specific Chrome Script?

In the meantime, I don't believe there are "city names" of "Harford" or "Hareford" at
39.49462,-76.2205. The USPS prefers "Aberdeen" for this location. Locals may also refer to it as "Riverside."

Thanks.

The STATE also considers that area to be "Aberdeen."

I performed some cleanup in that area in the last couple days. There were some sections I could not connect because I am (a) just a level 1 editor and (2) a few of the connecting roads lay just outside my "1 mile limit."

Are you able to connect the roads "Wellspring Drive" and "Heathland Trail" at this location?

I'll look into the Script you listed.

Thanks!
