Attention to Level 5 editor. San Diego I-15 Ramp error.

A level 5 map editor or higher can fix this.

I reported an error earlier today on the Eastbound lane of Mira Mesa Blvd to the I-15 North Onramp. Waze is not directing me to turn right into this ramp. Permalink https://www.waze.com/editor/?lon=-117.1 ... ts=6986918

A level 1 editor, "SillyGoat", added a ramp next to the existing ramp to solve this issue. I deleted it since that is the incorrect way to fix this problem.

Turns onto the ramp are restricted because Waze does not currently support carpool-only lanes. See here for the general guidelines:

I missed the "eastbound" part. Sounds like Waze decided to route through the turn-restriction. Your fix should do the trick.

The fix hasn't gone live yet. Just another day in penalty-based routing. :-)

That is correct. But the turn restrictions for the ramp are both turn off (which doesn't mean Waze won't direct someone to turn there). My question is why have that one ramp there? It serves no purpose for Waze (and I'm not seeing a legal separate purpose for a driver). If I were a driver getting onto I-15 from that road, I would have made my right turn onto the first ramp, regardless if I have 20 people in my car or it's just me. I wouldn't pass up the first ramp just so I can take the 2nd ramp because it's a HOV onramp, they both lead to the same place. They're connected a few feet down the road. That's why I'm asking what is the logical purpose of that ramp?
So the point is that at the end of the onramp there's a set of traffic lights controlling access to the freeway. Cars aren't allowed to switch lanes on the ramp so if there's less HOVs than normal cars you end up closer to the traffic lights. Additionally there may be some logic in the lights that lets in more HOV traffic than normal traffic.
Edit: Streetview of the lights (not visible from aerial photos): http://goo.gl/maps/E3eYx

Ah, I hadn't read enough of the thread to see that's what the real problem was. Your rerouting of the ramp going through the intersection should definitely prevent further left turn instructions. From my reading of the wiki, the hov lane should be changed to a parking lot type to help prevent waze from routing on it. By keeping the hov lane but making it unlikely to be routed, we can prevent "missing road" problems and give waze a good start point for rerouting when somebody uses the hov lane.

Good job txemt. I was driving around the area today. It looks like your fix went live(?) this morning and Waze directed me to the correct ramp.

I'm confused as to why this ramp is needed.

It's a diamond (carpool) lane.

I get that....but looking at that intersection, the only way to legally get onto there is from the westbound lane of Mira Mesa and make a right. BUT, Waze shouldn't be directing traffic to there because of the other onramp before that carpool lane. Make sense?
