Removing red light cameras

Post by Borgholio
Lately I've seen a larger than normal number of people reporting that red light cameras have been removed by the city in various areas. My spidey sense says that these reports are coming from cops or city agents who want us to think they're removed so they catch more people. Is this a valid concern or am I just being a paranoid fruit?

Well I know in Houston TX, the red light cameras were removed. I would check news resources to see if the red light cameras in that area have been removed.

I cleaned house yesterday removing cameras in my area. For one, it is against our state law to have red light cameras. Secondly, what they are reporting is Department of Transportation cameras or traffic management cameras, so they don't need to be on the map. The funniest ones were in neighborhoods and apartment complexes. I'm guessing they were reporting their security cameras.

Pending court cases are finally being resolved. Many people are winning there arguments, so some city's have started to flat out remove them.

That said there are plenty of cities that have turned the camera's off but they are still there ready to be turned on at a moments notice...

I've also noticed that wazer's are starting to vote the cam's gone in area's where they were turned off. (at least I'm assuming that cause the camera's just disappear after a map update.)

As far as I can tell, those are mostly people sitting at home panning the map around assuming that they can report things for where they are looking as opposed to where they are sitting. I think most new users do that in the first few days of using Waze. Once they see a giant camera icon over their couch, I think they learn ;)

FYI, since we are talking cameras, I'll drop the link to the wiki page on cameras to help spread the word :)
