Is there a way to suppress U-turn routing?

Post by Machete808
Here's the route I take each morning to a friend's house to go walking, via Kamehameha Hwy. For the longest time its directions, logically, had me turn left on Mokulele Drive, where there is a light.

But lately it's been having me pass the intersection and then flip back through the highway break at Mahinui Road. Probably its data show that a lot of cars rocket through there, but at this time of day making that U-turn is more trouble than it's worth. Also, it just seems odd that Waze wouldn't be more direct in its routing.

Is there any fix for this? Should I replace the street segment enabling the U-turn with something else?

Here's the map area:

Take the requested route several times so that Waze gets the data that it is slower than the more direct turn. If the u-turn is illegal, then just restrict the turn. That's the beauty of a bowtie. However, I get the feeling a u-turn is legal there.

Not in this case. The bowtie is set properly to allow u-turns. When Waze has data which mathematically comes out with the u-turn being slower, it will adjust routing accordingly.

It is legal. (Damn!) I checked it on my walk today. Well, I will drive it and see if that ultimately changes things. Very possibly it will prove to be modestly faster than waiting at the light. I'm just doubting most people would want to choose to do a U-turn on a divided highway.

This particular route isn't a common option so it's no big deal. Just wondered if in general if U-turn routing signaled anything being wrong with settings, etc. Thanks!
