NA rollback

Postby AlanOfTheBerg » Tue Feb 12, 2013 7:32 pm

This is the first time I've seen this happen:

NA MAP ROLLBACK TO FEBRUARY, 9 2013 06:36 UTC

This morning, the usual daily tile update process encountered a problem, and we had to roll back the update the one before from Febuary , 9 2013 06:36 UTC.

We're working on solving the issue, and to get back to our usualy daily process soon.

So this rollback has apparently created some map issues.

For example, this segment was realigned yesterday (due to current construction) and the turn pointers are at the new location but the segment is at the old. Any attempt to edit/save gets an error message. There's also a stray second segment with part of the new alignment. It looks like there's a mix of pre-Feb-9 and post-Feb-9 segments/junctions here and elsewhere.

Do we sit and wait? Any way to fix this (and similar problems in the vicinity and no doubt elsewhere)?

Unsure. I have not read anything either way. I would hope the edits are still pending.

I think this would explain the strange behavior I was getting this morning at around 5AM EST on the client. I could not navigate, it would say either could not find end point or could not find start point.

I've also noticed that some of my edits aren't "sticking", like changing a street type for example.
EDIT - a work around seems to be toggling the lock option (then setting it back to its original setting later).

Wow. I made a ton of small road alignment updates all over these past few days. I would hate to find all those hours wasted and I have to do them over.

I checked my other edits of the past few days (naming streets in new neighborhoods, mostly, and building them in one) and they seem fine. It seems there are just a few oddly placed errors where there's a mix of old and new (old segments, new junctions).

The problem is in figuring out how to fix those odd errors!

Edit: Found some street naming that got undone. Ugh. :(

Edit 2: Trying to rename the undone street names doesn't stick. Ugh ugh. :(

Maps updated to Feb 11 posted, or did someone already write that?
