Whenever I try editing some sections of road I get 'no permission'. Some sections I can edit but others not. I travel on these roads every day so according to the Wiki I should be able to edit them. Why does this happen?

I can't delete small street fractions in roundabouts in order to use the roundabout function. Why must those fractions be pending for deletion, when this slows the progress? I get bored of this noncens. One other thing is that there isn't a good map overlay here in Norway to place and dimention the roundabouts. We have good online maps on:
http://kart.finn.no/
http://www.1881.no/Map/#
or Googlemaps
Could that be implemented as overlays?

My dashboard shows that I have been driving on these roads. It just seems odd that I can edit some sections of these roads but not others, I'm guessing that it depends who has created them.

Te earliest date I drove on one of these roads was 22 Sept. I was able to edit some sections of this road which seems odd. Also what do the different colours mean on archived routes? I get green yellow and red.

This would have been better as it's own topic because it's really not related to this topic, but anyway:

The pending process is in place so inexperienced users don't make mistakes and delete roads that shouldn't be deleted. May I ask why you have to delete parts of roundabouts? I don't understand why you would need to do that for them to work.

Only map sources that allow free use of their maps can be included as aerials. This is why google maps and many other sources cannot be used. See here: http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/FAQ# ... olution.3F

Guesses:
1. You don't have Waze turned on all the time along the route?
2. You haven't waited long enough - you need to wait at least a week (barring major server issues) to be sure you will receive permissions along your route
3. You're trying to edit too far from where you actually drove - can only edit up to a mile away from your driving location, even if it is the same road
4. You're in poor GPS coverage so Waze just doesn't know that you went over that segment of road.

If you look at your routes in the My Dashboard section you'll be able to see where Waze thinks you have been and when.

Finally you seem keen. You're trying to edit the map. You're posting on the forum. You're intelligent and want to make a difference. Apply to become an area manager. All those annoying editing permission problems just go away. Do it today. Here's how:

Nope. It doesn't matter who created a road, you can edit them.

So what's the earliest date your route shows a green line on the segment of the road you can't edit?

Green means a good lock on the road. Your GPS agrees exactly with where Waze thinks the road is.
Yellow means that your GPS and Waze don't exactly agree where the road is, but this road is a close match and Waze will assume it is the right one. It may be that your GPS is slightly inaccurate, or that the road position is not quite correct.
Red means that Waze couldn't match your position to a road. So either no road is there, or the road is inaccurately position, or your GPS isn't so hot.

Waze is always working to improve their algorithms for getting a lock.

As for why you can't edit a road. Assuming you are right, then something is wrong. You could email alpha@waze.com with a suitable subject and ask them to look at it.

BUT computers do work logically and systematically. I'd take a good long look to make sure that I'm not trying to edit a road that I haven't driven near in the last week. Just driving on one segment on the road doesn't allow you to edit another segment of the same road that is more than a mile away.
Permission is attached to each segment.
