I agree that it's great to hear an official announcement about upcoming capability. I am however disappointed by the lack of replacement for the functionality that they are telling us not to do any more (in-editor notes; one of the current uses of railroad type)

Not exactly. Railroad segments used as editor notes should be deleted. Railroad segments should be added for actual railroads.

I read it as though we are to remove the segments. Please clarify.

This discussion doesn't look too good here in the public forums, especially only a few days after the champs-meeting at waze-HQ...!

We plan to add railroads to the client display.
You are already planning that for four years. What has been changed lately?
Moreover, some of you use railroads road type as a way to add comments in the editor. As we plan to add road types to the map soon - please try to remove these comments and avoid adding more of them so they won't go live :)
Better communication tools are also planned for the editor.
Those communication segments aren't for nothing. First give us some communication tools before pushing this trough!!
Why should it be pushed anyway? We didn't have it for four years. We can wait till we have a communication tool. Besides, we have created a work-a-round that works brilliant without any drawback.
Comment: there were some issues that made the routing use railroads and the navigation snap to railroad segments. These issue should be fixed.
Sticking to railroad segments is not a problem it's a requirement for using the railroad road-type.
The client should be fixed to the segment, otherwise all the speed data goes to the parallel segment.

Please make it work exactly like the walking trail and ped. boardwalk!!!!

^^ Because there are a lot of local rules for railroads that are different from what's been stated now.
I don't want people in my country using the railroad road-type.

But it's not going to happen any time soon, so no rush at all to remove them.
