Now that I understand more of how things work, I try to lock every singe road I edit as long as I am fairly certain of the geometry. Sometimes I forget of course.

An unlocked road is open to adjustment by the magic Waze background processes which will affect geometry and directionality.

I don't believe locking a segment will prevent any type of use from changing anything. (Anyone know otherwise for sure?)
