I am trying to edit this area:

http://world.waze.com/cartouche/?zoom=3 ... FFFFFFTTTT

Which is just outside my area manager area. I want to connect New Road to the A13 and tidy up the A13 which has its geometry all wrong and one side 2 way and the other 1 way.

Whenever I try to do anything such as drawing a new road and changing the geometry I get "No permission".

I could do this before I was an area manager so why can't I do this now?

Thanks in advance

It could be, of course, some bug or error in the world server right now...

However, it is more likely that this is an area which you have not driven within a mile of recently and/or you do not have a high enough ranking (stars) to perform those edits in this location.

The fastest way to remedy this is to send a permalink to alpha to add to your AM area.

I still don't think this hierarchy is present in waze! I think it was always intended and i get the impression it's on the way though!
Yeah, I don't know either. I know I can edit geometry, change names, add roads, connect segments etc. in areas I am not an AM of and I have never driven anywhere near before. I can't delete segments in those areas, though. I don't know if those are defaults for all users or not, regardless of stars...

Yes I haven't driven that way for a while - only when the A127 is busy - I'll take the scenic route home from work one day this week once the snow has cleared

Doh!

A hack for this:

If only the junction is just outside your area, you can change the geometry of the roads (temporarily) so the ends are in you area. Then connect them, and change the geometry back to the way it should be. This only works of both roads are partially in your area.
