No more city borders in Cartouche?

Post by rlpl
So far when I turned off the Aerial layer I could see the city areas marked grey and other areas in white. Today whole Cartouche window has the white background and the city borders are visible only in the location pane. Why this change? I found the city borders really useful. I was using it to find badly located or badly named cities. Now it's really hardly possible to find the bad city name. Hey waze developers, please give me back my old cool feature!

Truthfully, I have never see the gray areas in the location pane. It has always been white for me. But I am on the US server, and that may be one of those cool new features the World server enjoys. When logged into the world server, looking at Poland, I also do not see gray areas in the location pane. So, it probably isn't just you.

I can still see the city borders in the UK without the aerial layer although they are now a very light grey rather than the tint of blue they were previously meaning they are very difficult to differentiate from the white background!

They were indeed invisible yesterday, and they are indeed back today.

The same happens to the house numbers and landmarks layer. I think that is just because some layers are loaded before others.

OK, now it works correctly again. Either the problem has been fixed immediately or there was some intentional break of this facility (e.g., due to the map rebuilding). Please ignore my complain.

Hi Levon,

As I wrote above, now I can see the borders of the cities correctly. It seems that the problem was temporary. Thanks to AlanOfTheBerg I know that I am not the only one who noticed this. There were multiple places in Poland where I have seen the problem so I believe it was not specific to any local area. Also I believe there was a problem with the display in the main Cartouche window only because the location pane was correct.

Now this happens again but different than yesterday: when I stop dragging the map the city borders disappear, the background becomes solid white, the browser connects to waze.com (world.waze.com, etiles[1-9].waze.com and other servers) and after few seconds the city borders appear again. It looks like the borders come from a different source which can fail occasionally.

Hi rl_pl,

Can you please send us a permalink, to aplha@waze.com, of the area where you can't see the gray borders of the city.
Bacause we are unaware of this issue, and we able to see the gray borders of the cities on the map of Poland.

Thanks
Levon
