The Editor Chat is up and running!

Hey everyone, Chat is here!

The chat can be opened with that little icon you can see in the right bottom corner of the screen, above the newly designed footer.

There are chat rooms for each country - and you will automatically be placed in the room for the country you are currently editing. You can see who is currently online, and see where they're editing - just click their name to focus your center of the screen to theirs.

If you just want to quietly move nodes around in privacy you can always go invisible, but what's the fun in that? :D :D :D

There are some thing we still need to work on - ranks displaying incorrectly, etc.

Please let us know if you see any issues at all! I'll be happy to answer all of your questions.

Happy editing!

It looks great, but I think something like PMs in chat or an alert for direct messages like MGODLEW suggested would be even greater ;)

I've been trying to use chat in WME but it's not easy mainly for two reasons:
First, if the chat window is minimized to increase working area, the notification for new comments/messages is barely visible, I often miss there's something new unless I'm actively waiting for it and looking at the icon every few minutes.
Second, there are no time stamps, when I finally notice that something happened I can't tell if it was a minute or a hour ago, and if it still make sense sending a reply (normally, when I reply I end up being ignored, probably by the same reason I didn't noticed someone was trying to chat in the first place...)
I think if Waze could improve those two points it would be much easier, at least for me :) , to make a real use of chat.

Seems to be fine. No one is "answering" though.

THE TWO CHAT TOPICS HAVE BEEN MERGED AS OF THIS POST.

(There will likely be some duplicate/odd posts above this due to the merging.)

It's where they are viewing, not necessarily actively editing..
It should be center of the editor's current view.

I believe it only affects chat-list visibility. But some simple tests with other editors would confirm it either way and we can update the wiki.

Been doing that for quite a long time. Didn't know there was an issue for anyone...
