There should be an option to switch countries, especially if you open it in Chrome's incognito only to find out if always starts you in England. If you switch to Australia but open chat too quickly it connects to United Kingdom and the only way to change is to reload the page.

1. No history.. chat is erased after each permalink button press or page refresh, so I often miss if someone wrote something.
2. Could show for how long someone been inactive.
3. Cannot copy text out of chat. Is someone sends me a permalink, cannot press it.

EDIT:
4. Timestamps.

I agree and like it. We initially suggested, movability and resizeable window. Docking it in one spot and taking up a lot of space from the map isn't really good.

it would also be nice if you can choose whether the message can be viewed publicly in the room or only peer to peer.......ability to group editors in chat by the State/Region they are editing in.

It appears this topic has been posted in multiple places here is the LINK to the other thread.
I PM'ed @Alanoftheberg regarding this.

Why is Chat has to be fixed in one spot... Why can't we move it or resize it? I know, I had to minimize an bring it up many times while editing. Too much wasted efforts when you think about all the editors.

I love the idea of Google Hangout. I'm using it on a daily bases to help / collaborate with editors. Those who opt in to use their Google username is great or add their Waze username as an alias to their Google name to keep their Google info private.

They already have chat rooms and private messages, we could also access it without needing to have the editor open. IRC also logs channels so we could answer questions at a later time.
I'm aware of that... You do that not only with IRC but, Yahoo, Google hangout, MSN chat and the list goes on... But, that's not the solution at all.
We are talking about the Waze's new chat implementation within WME. While in WME, we can use chat to point out things, answer question and work together with another editor on an issue.
- The goal is to have the chat out of the way to preserve the most screen space as possible.
- Move it to the left or/and make it so that editors can resize, reposition it.
- Another option is to have a transparent background.
- Even though, Waze picks rooms based on location, there are too many in a room that conversations gets each others way. Ability to pick a room and work one on one or just with handful editors would be great.

Bottom line is, there are a lot room to improve. It should only get better. I think, this is one of Waze's best feature to date.

Would be better, I think to have the complete button flashing.
