[Support please respond] Database error or sabotage

Post by Brshk1
I have just noticed that the city of Vitoria (Spain) now has an weird English name: Juan Bautista Gamiz

Although I have found no use for the "City English name" so far, the current situation is obviously incorrect. There is no need to flame a certain Juan, but this should be addressed, I think, either it has been caused by user intervention or by database corruption.

Here is a permalink to one of the affected areas:

Thank you.

Great, thanks. But I tried typing Vitoria and Cartouche says 'Error: more than one city match'. Besides that, blanking and saving changes nothing. I am not AM of that area. Shouldn't higher permissions be needed for such a modification?

Edit: forget it, using the same city name worked.

Yes, right, thank you. It happens to be a not well known street with the name in my first message. Which leads me to the first derivative: if one has permissions to edit a street in a city, he/she has also permissions to change the English city name of all the streets. It sounds a little bit unbalanced. Maybe.

You can solve this yourself by adding the Spanish name in the English name field and save. You need to do this for only one segment. All other segmenst of the city will be changed accordingly.

It was probably a mistake, I've seen several instances where people have mistakenly typed a street name into the english city name field.
