Not running that one, but thanks for the lead. I'm not too worried about this unless our fearless script author leader is. :ugeek:

RED BOX EXPLAINED:

The situation where there is something that blocks your ability to select elements in a certain area of screen real estate is something that is always there and for some god-forsaken reason is a part of the native WME environment. It does serve a purpose which is not super important to describe, but probably didn't need to be so horribly engineered as to block element selection where it lands. Alas, there is nothing we can do about it.

What FU is doing is highlighting this asinine no-go zone with a red box (without FU installed it is invisible - fricking brilliant!) so that now you know where it is and can take steps to move it (zoom in or out resets it to the top left corner), and put an end to raging at WME when you discover you randomly can't select something sometimes with no idea why.

TLDR: We now have a way to say FU to the no-go zone. Thank you iainhouse!

I spoke with delilush about this script at the NA mega meetup, with a very general idea about the kinds of issues it was designed to address.

I learned that - if I understood correctly - they are not allowed to use any of the community's scripts in-house for any reason, period. Therefore, since they can't see what this script is doing to the base WME UI, they don't have a clear vision of what this script does or most importantly why. Issues with the interface and ideas to improve have to be communicated via other mediums. Screenshots are apparently acceptable.

Is this consistent with your understanding, iainhouse?

Daliah just posted to the bug thread in the beta forum that the no click zone has been fixed and will be rolled out in the next release.

Is there any level of wizardry that can disable the Places layer temporarily for the same reason. Point Comments under Area Places are similarly inaccessible and require the same workarounds to reach them.

Thanks for all you do for us!!

SHIFT+L is of course the sensible solution. I am not in the habit of frequently turning it off and thus never troubled myself to discover that particular shortcut. Request withdrawn, with apologies for my ignorance. My signature quote rings true once again!
