[Script] WME Color Highlights - 2.38 Jan 2024

Here's my script which adds color highlighting to segments and landmarks according to their status and type. The highlighting of segments is likely to be most useful, for it shows locked and un-named roads (with many other features since the first version). Click on the link below to see full changelog.

I love your script and use it daily but in the "Filter by City" feature the yellow color is difficult to see on Primary Streets. With a bit of trial-and-error I did a temp hack by inserting a nice magenta in the script but would it be possible to change the script permanently so the Filter by City uses a color that will show up with good contrast on all streets? Thanks!

Actually it will filter even PRs and PLRs if there is a city or alternate city listed for the road, or if "No City" is selected.

Is this why the city highlight yellow is a darker shade?

It's actually a bit harder (for me) to discern the highlights now, the darker yellow (nearing brown) is closer to blending in with the green of grass/trees. I can work with it, just making sure it's intended behavior.

I agree that for me the new color makes things harder. When I suggested that the yellow used for "Filter by City" be changed, I had in mind something with unmistakable contrast with the common colors used for various levels of streets in WME so I am changing the color used in Line 441 to "#ed28ea" which is a vivid magenta that you won't mistake for anything else on the map.

Thank you for the script. Is it possible to have a Master Switch to disable/enable the script? Right now, I have to go to Tampermonkey to turn it off and on again. I would like to retain the existing settings when it's turned off.

Thanks

I see it has been reported already, but I also have a recurring problem of highlights v2.7 failing to load successfully on FireFox 45.0.1.

It doesn't do that to me. It is working well highlighting the PLRs in purple.

Seems to be conflicting with WME Wide-Angle Lens. Not sure what I am looking for in the console to provide info.

Timbones wrote: Tue Aug 22, 2023 1:54 pm What problem are you seeing with this script? Do you still see the problem when all other scripts are disabled?

I can confirm that the fields for "filter by city" and "filter by editor" are not populating. The only warning/error I can find in console is this:

Code: Select all

WME Highlights: editor not initialised yet - trying again in a bit...

WME Color Highlights: 2.35
WME Highlights: Init User list: undefined
WME Highlights: Init City list: Warwick
Tested in both Firefox and Chrome and as the only script running. This has only been since the reversion to WME 2.180

Thank you, and I do appreciate the win, and the script is usable now ( :) ) but....

The filter by city list is showing cities that are hundreds of kilometres away.
The filter by editor list is showing editors that have not edited in the area on screen, but they do appear to have edited in some sort of vicinity.

No errors showing in console.

We've discussed this before and decided not to. Revcon and Selfcon are not exactly big errors and seeing them on the map usually makes editors go all q+w all over the map and destroy valid turn restrictions.
