Thank you for that information - it helps to explain the results I'm seeing.

Do you have any comment on the statement in this posting that the in/out segments must be "parallel one way roads"? Is that still a factor?

If it's a one way road or a two way road doesn't matter.

Only one or two segments need to be higher to PS?

@ituajr: I'm waiting for the result of your test to update JAI with this condition.

Just one of the two parallel segments.
IIRC the median segment is not taken into account.
But I am not sure about that.

So am I! Following the advice that one or both of the in/out segments need to be Primary or higher, I upgraded all my test cases from simple streets to Primary. I'm now waiting for a tile update. Last INTL tile update was Feb 09, 2019 08:00.

The tile update has finally happened, so I was able to continue my U-turn testing.

Waze avoids routing through this curved segment, which has parallel in/out segments. This segment matches the Wiki requirements for U-turn prevention, but JAI doesn't flag it as a U-turn to be prevented.

Waze allows routing through this curved segment, which has in/out segments almost at right angles. This segment does not match the Wiki requirements for U-turn prevention, but JAI flags it as a U-turn to be prevented.

My conclusion is that the Wiki is correct, and JAI gets it wrong on curved segments.

Testing was done with the Route Speeds addin, and an alternative route was available if Waze wanted to avoid the U-turn.

In the process of testing, I also found that U-turn prevention did not trigger on this (straight) segment when the in/out segments were ordinary streets, but did trigger when I changed them to primary streets, thus confirming what Leorenaud said. All my in/out streets were two-way, again confirming what Leorenaud said.

For the record, as far as I know, this is a server-level configuration difference which is not true on the North American server.

My testing was done on the INTL server. I guess we're waiting for someone to step up and do similar tests on the NA and IL servers.

Pretty sure I tested this fairly recently in NA, and U-turn prevention is not conditional by road type here.

Exhaustive testing at my Coober Pedy U-turn test area includes all 8 combinations of Street/Primary Street for each of in-segment, median-segment, and out-segment. The results show that the U-turn is blocked if and only if the out-segment is a Primary Street.

(Tests also confirm that the median-segment length is a critical factor, not the straight-line distance between the median endpoints. That's as expected, but worth checking just in case.)
