Seems to be a no-win situation. At least all existing extensions will work. And I'm guessing that extensions that update themselves will be able to do so. We'd only have issues with extensions that have to be manually updated or that we want to install later.

Just means changing instructions.

1. install TamperMonkey from Chrome Web Store
2. add scripts from UserScripts.org into TamperMonkey
3. PROFIT!!!

Yeah, if you don't like TM. Honestly, I was resistant to this method, but since we had those headaches a few months back with directly installed .JS extensions, I installed TM. Quite frankly... it works better than the locally-installed .JS extensions ever did...

Developers just have to upload their extensions to the webstore. That's not very complicated... For example Toolbox is already on the webstore.

Isn't there a one time fee for becoming a developer? $40 or something? I looked into it once, but never got around to actually doing it. I might have another look at it...

No I've never paid. You can have up to 10 projects for free.

Interesting. Anyhow I expect this is leading towards Google having more of a walled garden and eventually banning Ad Blocking extensions and loop-holes like Tamper Monkey.

Another reason for me to not use Chrome. If I can't block ads, I definitely won't use it.
