Narrow Street - Cyprus

Post by mareku188
Hi.
As we start discuss on forum/discord about rules for Cyprus I just want to inform that narrow street have 10 minutes penalty on routing. That kind of road for Waze (routing) is so narrow that You have difficulties with driving such road.
IMO that part of Limasssol ( https://www.waze.com/en-GB/editor?env=r ... =102809130 ) don't have so narrow street. I was driving those streets (Toyota Corolla Sedan (XL) and Honda Civic) and they are not so narrow (I never had a problem with driving or turning on these streets). So for routing better change it to street.
Also on small village in Trodos mountain such road almost non exist.

Info from Wazeopedia Benelux:
"Road type introduced April 2018, When talking about road type narrow street (formerly Alley), we mean very narrow streets that are drive-able, but hard to access by car. It's the kind of roads that are so narrow, you'd rather not get a route through when driving, unless it is significantly faster. However, as a motorcycle, alleys are convenient for navigation. We'd expect to find relatively low segment speeds on narrow streets already, due to the physical characteristics of the street.
Narrow streets will have a routing penalty for cars and taxis, not for motorcycles.
For now, Narrow streets can't have House numbers.
Navigation penalty 10 minutes."
Wazeopedia USA:
"Passageway (alley) As of October 31, 2018, the new road type Passageway should not be used in the USA. This road type is designed for other parts of the world, where some public roads accomodate only vehicles narrower than cars. At this time, do not use the Passageway road type in the USA without explicit champ approval for each instance.
Passageway - a long, narrow way, typically having walls on either side, that allows access between buildings or to different rooms within a building."
Question to You - what we do with that category of road?

General information. It is not good to modify routing by changing segment type. The segment type should be used consistently, preferably by official state road types.

hello, thank you very much for the information for the routing on the narrow street

there is complementary information in each Wiki which amazes me, because sometimes I stay with 1 idea but seeing more options helps our knowledge.

Respect to the error I have spoken with a Cyprus editor and the sector has been corrected based on what is indicated here, thanks everyone!

Our friends in Barcelona use Private Road segment type for neighbourhoods like Raval and Gothic Quarter, where you really need local knowledge before driving that way.

The vast majority of the cars should stay on the main roads, and I think the main objective might be similar in some areas of Limassol. That being said though, I also think the use of Narrow Street is a bit excessive in this particular are. Some roads are driveable just fine, and many routes through these neighbourhoods are used very regularly.
