Before doing any cross-state -- moreso if it will also be cross-region -- editing, it's encouraged to briefly "check in" with the local editors/leadership first.

It can/should be very quick and easy, a PM to the State Managers (the list in the previous link is always kept current) and/or joining the state's Google Hangout or Slack channel is plenty.

Please take a couple minutes to let the locals where you're going to be gaining editable area. It's a bonus if you offer your services for Boots On The Ground (BOTG) surveys, since you'll be the area anyway.

Small courtesies are greatly appreciated when editing outside your home area, and you never know -- you might make some new friends as a result!
