Hello GLR Wazers!

We have been testing the use of "Discord" as a replacement to "Google Hangouts" for our very active and productive live Waze community chat service.

Thank you all, who have participated in this test, and who have helped to set up our Great Lakes Discord server and channels.

As we all know, our WME Chat service is still inadequate, which necessitates the need for us to use a non-Waze chat service. With Hangouts, we at least attempted to keep it in the "Google" family, so to speak. However various limitations of the service including the regrettable performance of its Android app, have convinced us that the shift to the Discord service is our best alternative at this time.

While many of our current GHO channels have already migrated to Discord, we hope to have a full suite of channels needed for the GLR in place by 2017-10-01.

Once all channels are active and any kinks are resolved, I will announce our complete departure from Google Hangouts. You may not want to depart from Hangouts until that time.

Please install Discord on your computers and mobile devices as soon as possible to learn how it all works, so as to be ready and comfortable with it before we say goodbye to our beloved/despised GHOs.

Please continue to adhere to the Global Waze Etiquette Guidelines, including the Waze Community Communications Guidelines in all communication mediums

At this time we are also pausing the use of our chat invitation (Google) form. During this pause, we will not be collecting any email addresses for any purpose. This includes for access to any GLR related Google Sheets or Google Groups.

Any Wazer who currently has access to any such sheets or groups may request for their email address to be removed to either me or Terry via a PM here in the forum.

In the future, personal email addresses for GLR related use will be highly discouraged and instead,
only "Waze use only" Gmail addresses will be encouraged. More on this later.

I also ask that each GLR State who collects email addresses begin to follow this policy as soon as possible.
