Parking Lot Roads that are usable only by drive-thru customers should normally not be mapped
i think that statement is too broad because it is quite useful to map drives-thrus. They are one of the more heavily used roads in a parking lot so you know it gets traffic. there is always going to be really slow speeds on these roads so it's better to have them mapped so this slow speed data doesn't corrupt data on nearby segments. it will give the wazer waiting in the drive-thru a good road to be snapped to to as they start their navigation to new destination.

i had a situation where adding the PLR fixed a routing issue. i take/ pick up my daughter to school everyday. after a new fast food joint went in Waze stopped routing me the fastest way. i looked into it and even thought the dairy queen had a PLR it didn't have one through the drive thru. the segment times on the adjacent LS were in the 2min range for a 100m stretch. those DQ Blizzards take a while to make;) Waze would route me a half mile around, the shortest way due to road configuration. i added the drive-thru PLR, the speed data on the LS returned to normal, and routing was returned to normal.

maybe this is the exception but how often are editors checking the speed data near drive thrus to catch this? my guess is maybe when a UR pops up. if a PLR or PR is mapped in the drive-thru then this won't happen.

If it is desirable to map them (to avoid drive-thru customers being snapped onto nearby parallel roads), they should be mapped as Private Roads to avoid thru-routing.
I am noticing inconsistency with your proposal. You said to map a parking lot road with a private road?

Mapping the parking lots so they route properly shouldn't be an issue. This corrects speed data on nearby roads in many many cases. But still, I am missing why it was suggested to map as a PR vs a PLR. The only thing I can think of are cons for mapping as a PR and no pros come to mind. PLR and PR both dont allow thru traffic so I wouldn't consider that a pro

CON
1. traffic jams show
2. new editors will try to "fix" since they are a parking lot road mapped with a private road

Curious how many places have a drive thru that this would apply to? I can't remember ever seeing one personally.
