Not all road segments on private property are set to the PLR or private road type.

For example, a mall might have a ring road that is on private property but typed as "street".

Also, you may have a gated community, but only the gates are set to "private", the rest of the community would be "streets".

Remember that the rest of the guidelines should still be met, including the proper signage, and meeting local/state law.

CBenson wrote:Regarding SLs on PRs. Oddly you can set them. Just change them to street, set the limit, change them back to private and the SL shows in the app.
I've added a small how-to note on this.
CBenson wrote:Regarding the page I have a couple of questions. Are there federal laws that designate maximum speeds for passenger vehicles? Are the speed limits on the parkways set by federal law?
Changed to "laws or regulations". I figure there must be a legal justification for getting pulled over for speeding on parkways or 'on base'.
CBenson wrote:I'm also wondering if we need to clarify the statement: "In addition, the app notifies users if they exceed a speed limit designated on the Waze map." Do we need to get into the details of the notifications provided in the client?
I was leaving the details on the App features vague until they are moved out of beta.

SeZAKxing wrote:How about leaving PLR and PR out completely until they can be directly viewed/set with the WME?
(changing FC to set "hidden" data should be left to experienced editors)
Possible, but as we are talking about PLR and PR, neither of these are FC related. Anyone else have an opinion.

SpencerFG wrote:We had a brief private discussion about how precise speed limit transitions should be. This could affect whether nodes need to be added while editing the limits. For example, if we want the speed limit change to be within 25 feet of the actual sign it would cause the creation of more new segments than if 200 feet were acceptable.
Correct.

The decision to cut segments is beyond the scope of this guidance. There is Global SL guidance being discussed right now that will touch on segment length in broader terms.
The global discussion is in a locked Wiki-Masters forum.

It's somewhat inherent in the "Use white SL signs, not yellow SL signs" guidance, but I'll add a blurb that the guidance is the same for ramps as for normal streets.

If the local/state editors think they can keep up with changes, I don't see why not. Check with your state manager.

MatthewStarbuck wrote:To clarify: There is a 25MPH RAMP sign....we can use the ramp sign..even if it is yellow?
How's this? Does it answer your question?
Any highway ramp with speed limits posted on the regulatory black and white signs should be added to the road segments in the WME. Ramps with advisory speed signs, as shown below, should have no speed limit in the WME.
