MAR Deviation on Continue TIO

Post by subs5
The MAR SMs have discussed some changes to the Continue TIO guidance on the national wazeopedia page about tolls and restricted areas. So I would like to propose the following changes for our region.

Some of the changes to the original National TIO guidance makes Waze a bit chattier without a corresponding improvement in guidance to the user. Often times it overly complicates some items.

Two changes are proposed:
Do not add Continue TIOs on BC for a toll collection facility. Ex is the last place to turn around prior to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel prior to the toll.

Do not add Continue TIOs for entering restricted areas.
To be honest I have yet to see this implemented for restricted areas on a large scale which include military bases, controlled industrial area or businesses, or private residential area (single family houses or apartments/condominiums). Properly established gates using private road segments prevent the majority of routing entrances into a restricted area unless the destination is only accessible by going into the area. Having normally public places like GNC properly named GNC (Tinker AFB access only) as explained in the Military Bases Naming for Commercial Places page also prevents people from selecting to go into an area without knowledge. The one main exception is when an ad is selected that does not utilize the above, although there are some that have restricted access showing, and the user doesn't get it till they see the gate anyway.

Ex is continuing into Fort Belvoir from Beulah Rd in Fairfax, VA.

The proposed wording would be:
Restricted areas (border control point, military base)
The Mid-Atlantic Region does not use Continue TIOs for when a best continuation is to a restricted area, it is not desired to inform the user prior to entering a military base, controlled industrial area or business, or private residential area (single family houses or apartments/condominiums). Properly established gates using private road segments prevent the majority of entrances into a restricted area unless the destination is only accessible by going into the area.

Toll
The Mid-Atlantic Region does not use Continue TIOs for when a best continuation is to a toll. The tolls in MAR are well marked and adding a different primary segment name (with alternate to match the current road name for routing continuation) is not desired.

Differences are compared here.
