Removal of Navigation List in client

Post by AlanOfTheBerg
Update 1/2/2012: Due to the navigation list being added back into the client beta, this poll has done it's job and is now closed. Thank you everyone who voted!

With the Waze 3.0 beta for iPhone, Waze is making a lot of changes to the interface. One such change is the removal of the ability to set departure point on the map (destination is still available), but a bigger change which I am not in favor of, is removal of the navigation list. Together with departure point setting, this is a useful tool for drivers, but also a very useful tool for map editors to get first-hand turn information for changes made on the map, without having to actually drive there or wait for an update request to come in.

That would be new functionality which doesn't exist anywhere else yet. I haven't heard anything that this is planned.

There are people within Waze who want it back too. :)

I don't recall where I mentioned it, but perhaps they were thinking most used it seldom and then only to see the major routes they were routed on. That is visible now when you see the route overview. Whether your single choice or in the alternate routes list, there are usually 2-3 street names which are the main streets that route uses.

While I really want the nav list back, I'm kinda curious how it can be that so many people can't go anywhere without it. Turn-by-turn voice navigation does the work for you. If you don't want to turn at a particular intersection, then don't and continue on and the rerouting will catch up and try again.

The client is supposed to announce these, but due to a routing server bug, it currently does not unless the phone is routing in offline mode. Odd bug, but true. We've been on Waze for months about this. I totally agree in the current state with unannounced exit numbers, this is very helpful.

And many of us can sit here and say, "We told ya' so, early in the beta..." Not that'd we'd ever say that out loud. Or in a forum. :o :x

We currently have a new userland option to get a nav list on the livemap on the website. Not always the same route as the client, but potentially useful as a pre-departure turn-by-turn option.

Hopefully gets added back in soon.
it's on their list...
Anyone care to read above or check Waze on facebook? It is back.
