Just FYI, the Layers section in the Waze Map Editor Interface and Controls page has stated the following since September 29, 2011:

"The direction of travel for a GPS point determine its color, so that all drivers going the same direction will show their points in the same color."

I find it ... humorous that many long-time editors haven't read this before. :ugeek:

The GPS arrows are from aggregated data, so there would be no particular use to show velocity. Velocity data is too discrete to show in this format, as it is different in 30-minute slots throughout the day, so graphically rendering that is daunting and would, if you put it all on the screen at once, be overwhelming. Since the only way to get this data is to query the routing server, this is essentially the same as using the Route Speeds tool.

For the uninitiated, this is called "color by azimuth."

Please note that GPS points are taken from individual drives, selected randomly, and not aggregated data.

The system also makes sure that not the entire drive is reflected on the WME, but just a part of it.

Thank you,

GPS Points Layer: Color Code Breakdown

Have you ever wondered what all the colors of the arrows in the GPS points layer of the WME represent?

The answer is simple, every color represents a different direction.

However, which color represents which direction? That's a little more complex! Check out the visual below:
