Raid promotions have been announced!

Very much appreciate the contributions of everyone who participated, but those who received promotion really did go above and beyond.

Congrats all!

We finished our first raid -- first one ever in the Great Lakes region!

Wanted to draw attention a very nice note by OrbitC congratulating all the participants/mentors.

Great job to all!

Dates for Ohio Mini-Map Raid are announced!

The Raid will run from Sunday, May 24 through Sunday, June 7. Editors will have a full two weeks to work and have uncontested area, thus allowing them to work editing time into the rest of their schedules.

We have 13 participants, some of whom will double as mentors, and 11 dedicated mentors enrolled.

As with most things, more time invested means more knowledge gained, but any time editors can contribute will be appreciated!

Thanks,

-Terry

Registration is now closed.

We had 13 editors sign up; all 13 will be receiving PMs within the next week confirming they're officially enrolled in the first ever Ohio Mini-Raid!

Still looking at late May/early June for the raid, but no hard dates have been set yet.

Reminder: the application process to join the Ohio Mini MapRaid close in one week (March 31).

All ranks encouraged to apply; note that ranks 1-3 will get priority registration if we hit capacity.

Applications are pretty easy: just send me a PM if you're interested! :)

Thanks!

Ohio mini-MapRaid

Postby TerryPurdue » Mon Mar 16, 2015 4:05 am

The Ohio leadership team is planning an internal-only Ohio mapping event; think "very small-scale, by-invitation-only MapRaid."

We're looking to improve a region of the Ohio map which, being predominately rural, has never benefited from editor attention that it desperately needs. We're hoping this event can address the neglect for this portion of Ohio in a sustainable, long-term manner.

What we're thinking currently (subject to change!):
  • Internal-only: only editors primarily active within Ohio borders would be eligible to participate
  • Editor development: primary goal is to foster growth/develop talent of newer editors, so if the event fills up, priority registration will be reserved for editors between ranks one and three
  • Maximum coverage, minimum overlap: each editor who participates would be given a temporary Area Manager area all to themselves -- the goal is to fix as many square miles as possible, not race other editors to claim the edits within a shared area
  • Mentoring/support: the senior editors (R4+, SMs, RC) will be heavily involved throughout the raid, but won't be assigned any editing area -- their only responsibility is to provide editing support (unlocks, answering questions, etc.) to the editors who are editing
  • Duration: current thinking is to start on a Sunday and continue through midnight of the following Sunday. The Raid would be eight full days, including three full weekend days (a Saturday and two Sundays). Editors may choose to work any time window(s) during the raid they wish, secure in the knowledge that no other editors will have rights to edit within their area
  • Scheduling: we're shooting for late May/early June to give maximum time to plan, thus increase the chance of smooth sailing. We're working closely with the global MapRaid coordinators to block off the dates on the "master" Raid schedule to ensure there are no conflicts with the set of larger Raids
  • Rewards: just like the "official" map raids, once the raid concludes the leadership will meet and identify which editors should be considered for promotions. Promotions may include, but are not limited to, increased editor rank, new title(s) (e.g., Area Manager), and/or expansion of existing AM area
Feel free to post questions in this thread so others can benefit from clarifications.

If you'd like to participate, please PM me directly. Be aware that as the number of openings is fixed, it may not be possible to accommodate all that apply.

Thanks!

-Terry
