Orphaned Junctions

Post by AANav
Someone has edited a section of map by adding roads in all parking lots. I am currently cleaning the area by deleting these road since these aren't really suppose to be roads but in the process lots of junction points are being left behind that aren't connected to anything. My questions is, will these orphaned junction points that aren't connected to anything on the map be automatically deleted or will I need to manually delete each one?

Thanks

I was thinking of doing this but the way these road were placed on there (pieces missing, etc) just clutters the map. Plus many of these are private lots so they really shouldn't be listed.

Ugh. Yeah, I agree. Parking lot road != every parking lot row.

No, it's not. Orphaned junctions are not visible or selectable, not in the data. please don't post in 2+ year old threads.

I think you should leave the parking lot roads but just change them to 'parking lot' type

Question to Waze developers. How many orphaned junctions are on world map server now? In avarege I can find about 10 non-visible, not connected junctions in urban areas. I think that some automatic cleanup process should be done on world server - you could save a couple of multi-gigaherz servers just by cleaning up worthless data. ;)

It looks like the roads you're talking about were the paths through every row of parking spaces. That's overkill, and you were correct to delete them.

In general, if they are large parking lots (mall, big box store, etc) go ahead and leave the roads. Waze uses them to route users to the store front. Roads along the periphery are ok, as are the roads leading from the traffic light to the parking lots.

To answer your other question, once you delete the segments, yes, you do need to delete the orphaned junctions yourself.
