Any objections?

I agree. My only concern is there is no mention of the >170 degree u-turn for bow ties.

voludu2 wrote:As of <date>, Waze is able to route u-turns where the u-turn arrow is enabled or where the turn angle is greater than 170 degrees at a bow-tie style intersection; and will give a "make a U-turn" instruction. If the current U-turn arrow setting on the segment could prevent Waze from giving the best route, or if it causes instructions to make an illegal turn, it should be fixed. Some examples where allowing a u-turn can allow Waze to find a better route for a wazer include: when the drive begins with the car headed the wrong way for the best route; when a wazer has made an incorrect turn during a drive. When reversing course is quicker than taking a long detour, allowing the u-turn enables Waze to find a better route.

U-turn laws are sometimes different in different parts of a country. Always check the local laws before changing u-turns. Check all local wiki pages or talk to a Country Manager or State Manager. Local knowledge may be needed to be sure whether a u-turn is safe and legal at the intersection.

I hate to be a pest, but the 170 degree u-turns info is what sent me looking into the Wiki. Any chance we can also add the bold info above regarding "170 degree" u-turns?
Thanks,

OK, but I cannot think of another intersection style that would have a >170 degree turn? I suppose a one-sided bowtie?

Greater than 170 degrees is a really sharp turn; if you know of one that is not a bow tie; I would like to see it.

Looks just perfect to me! I'm glad you looked after this.

Waze's decision to reduce the visual impact of red roads puzzles me greatly, but that's beyond our control. With such a significant change it's especially good for the images to match the current editor.

Perhaps we could make a list of the absolute basics to define that.
My first draft of such a list would be:
  • How to enter map editor
  • Basic interface elements and settings
  • Absolute basics of adding and modifying segments (click on the button, draw with mouse, double click to finish, input name and city)
  • Absolute basics of adding and modifying segments
  • Introduction of the concept of Map Problems and Update Requests (telling them not to start closing things massively and to get experience and read further wiki documentation)
  • How to save
  • Where to find more information and local guidance.

Can you add that Linux users will need to hold ctrl-alt in order for this to work?

bgodette figured it out and posted ithere. I'm a Linux user and have to use this method for it to work.

Map Editing Quick-start Guide

The Talk tab shows a link to a forum topic on U-turns.

I couldn't find a separate topic for this page, but there are several topics on subjects that are also written on this page. I would propose to have a general topic for every page, linked on the Talk tab. So people know where to leave a comment.

In addition, for these kind of overview pages, we could either refer to specific topics in the general topic, or provide the links to specific topics on the Talk Tab, like is done with the u-turn policy.

What do you think?
