OK, I see this now, sorry and thanks. The outline border of the highlighted places is wide enough on the RPP triangles that there is barely any real estate for the color in the center, which is why I didn't think it was doing anything. But it is enough. Need better glasses. :)

It got a lot easier to see the highlight after I subsequently turned off WMEPH, too.... :oops:

Is this why the city highlight yellow is a darker shade?

It's actually a bit harder (for me) to discern the highlights now, the darker yellow (nearing brown) is closer to blending in with the green of grass/trees. I can work with it, just making sure it's intended behavior.

  • City highlight is now hot pink!

Awesome, thank you!

As an aside, this is amusing. My own way of dealing with scanning for city errors up to now was to use saved SVL configurations to change ALL relevant segments to hot pink (and others to gray), than use CH to highlight cities in yellow. Any errors were revealed by remaining hot pink when they should have been highlighted yellow, and vice versa.

Just saying.... big fan of using hot pink for this aspect, lol. But now I'll be refining my system... :lol: 8-)

Appreciate the change!

Yeah, this does pose a problem, with this lost function. Hopefully it can be restored. :)

Re: [Script] Colour Highlights for Segments - v1.6.2 Apr 201

Postby skbun » Tue Apr 02, 2013 9:43 pm

Some small bugs associated with landmark highlights:
I noticed that in 'highlight by city', that this works great for segments, but does not work for landmarks. (They highlight the current city regardless of the state of the 'invert' button.) Can this be changed/fixed? It'd be a really great way to quickly identify landmarks that are improperly addressed.

If a user disables 'Highlight landmarks' and 'Highlight by city' is enabled at that time, landmarks that are yellow remain yellow until a user mouses over them (or unchecks 'Highlight by city' and re-checks 'Highlight landmarks'.

Does the script attempt to read get.landmarks to grab any cities seen in landmarks, adding them to the list? In my area there's a lot of ridiculous entries like for <no state>, or <Mexico>, or whatever...that would help vet these out.

Thanks! Awesome update, Tim!

I'm pretty sure this has something to do with the bootstrapping functions that most of the Javascript scripts are using to initalize. My rationale for this is that I've done a side by side comparison of running highlights-1.6.3 in Chrome prod and beta, and what I find is that it shows the sources of the two as fundamentally different in the sources tab.

Prod:
Code: Select all
(function (unsafeWindow) {
---The entire contents of the highlighter script here---
})(window);

Beta:
Code: Select all
---The entire contents of the highlighter script here---

I think Chrome Beta and Canary somehow does not like the bootstrapper function, as written currently. I can also note that after loading WME (in a state where highlights-1.6.3 is not in the extensions tab at all), I can paste the entire contents of the script into the console, and it suddenly works fine -- until I reload or otherwise leave the page.

Re: [Script] Highlights for Segments & Landmarks - v1.6 Feb

Is routing still broken for segments ≤15 m long? If so, it'd be nice to have a highlight for segments equal to or less than 15 m in length.

Is that different than the feature which disallows routing on short segments (10m) to prevent u-turns?

I suppose not. I didn't realize it was a "feature". I'm sure that's nice elsewhere, but in New Orleans, U turns are a necessary part of driving—we have a lot of Michigan lefts here, whether or not anyone actually calls them for what they are.
