Implemented in v. 4.9.4, available as beta (practically a Release Candidate now), here.

I will probably bring it to production on Tuesday evening if no one finds big issues.

Known issues:
- some preference about decorations width have no effect (WAD), they should be removed.
- "Hide minor roads at level 3" doesn't work anymore.
- Toggling between imperial and metric does not make the preferences change in the SVL panel.

What version do you currently have? 4.9.4.6?
What browser? What version?

You can try now if v. 4.9.4.7 did any better.

Did you try if it worked after resetting the preferences?

Any error in the console?

V 4.9.5 (beta, install it from here)
- Give up drawing and toggle to the road layer when there are too many segments/nodes on the view (for big metropolitan areas, see New York, for example)
- Label placement algorithm changed, default value for "Street Names Density" is now 7 (you may need to change it manually or, even better, reset the preferences)
- Two new options to set when SVL switches from close to far zoom and when it switches to the normal road layer (changing those will have an impact on the performance)
- (if I didn't mention it already) we now render "next to HOV / bus lane" flag, too.
- Realsize is on by default because is the "recommended" way to use the script (for example: it's easier to distinguish one-way from two-way streets, different speed limits per directions can be rendered perfectly...)

V. 5.0.0 is out!
If it doesn't happen automatically, you can download it from here.

Major update!
  • Many things have changed! You may need to change some settings to have a similar view as before (for example, increasing the width of the streets when not using the realsize mode). Resetting the preferences using the "Reset" button is actually recommended after this update if you didn't make too many changes from the default style.
  • NEW: Rendering completely rewritten: performance improvements
  • NEW: The preference panel was redesigned and is now in the sidebar
  • NEW: You can set what color to use for each speed limit (User request)
  • NEW: Added an option to render the streets based on their width (one-way streets are thinner, their size changes when you zoom)
  • NEW: Some options are now localized using WME's strings
  • NEW: Dead-end nodes are rendered with a different color, because we all want to know that they are not connected.
  • NEW: The Preference panel changes color when you have unsaved changes, so that it's less likely to forget it with unsaved changes
  • NEW: The "Next to Carpool/HOV/bus lane" is now also shown
  • NEW: when too many segments are about to be drawn, the layer gives up before trying. We may need to tweak this value (or make it available in the preferences) if this happens too early or too late.
  • NEW: if you zoom fast enough between levels we won't draw features that you will soon not need
  • Removed: the zoom-level indicator while editing the preferences
  • Bug fixes and new bugs :)
Known issue: hide minor roads at zoom 3 is not working anymore.

I've already found a bug with the compiled version.
After some weird zooming, segments are drawn multiple times and the editor starts getting sluggish.
That shouldn't happen and will be fixed hopefully soon.

Edit: fixed in 5.0.1

Mapman44 wrote:Although my preferences are set to Imperial, text speed limits in SVL are displaying in metric.
Thanks for reporting it, that's fixed in...

V. 5.0.4
- NEW: layer is refreshing automatically when toggling between imperial and metric in the settings
- Fixed: speeds shown in metric system while in imperial
- NEW: can set the maximum number of segments/nodes that shall be drawn before switching to the normal road layer in the new "Performance tuning" section.
- Fixed: sometimes unvalidated speed limits were shown as validated.

Fixed in 5.0.6
+ New (user request, thanks The_Cre8r) setting for changing the layer opacity, so that you can see the roads on the aerials under the streets if you want.

I've noticed and some users have reported that sometimes the script does not get updated automatically from Tampermonkey.
If you are on al older version than 5.0.6, you can get the latest one manually from here: https://code.waze.tools/repository/475e ... 8d.user.js
