Sydney - incorrect roadwork data from RMS - report here

Postby Caradellino » Wed Nov 18, 2015 8:43 am

It has been brought to my notice that there are several, obviously automatic generated, inaccurate pins in sydney, most likely to be from the RMS feed from the Connected Citizen Program:
B_Carp wrote:...is there anything that can be done about other incorrect roadwork data being pulled from RMS? I'm constantly getting alerts around Sydney for non existent roadworks & pushing the "No" button on Waze does nothing.

Please, if you happen to detect such, the guys at Waze HQ would need more information and examples on that, try to capture your findings (screenshot) and explain what's wrong with it in your pov. I think it's best shared in here, so that everybody can see, what's already been reported, I'll advise the relevant guys from HQ to monitor this topic.

Thank's for your cooperation

Hi guys,

As Caradellino mentioned - If you encounter anything similar, please try to get a screenshot and post here with location and time (local) so we can investigate.

Thank you for your help, mates.

Hi, I've noticed in the past some of the road closures eg. 10pm - 6am which take place over a few days have been entered as 24h full closures over those days, like on the Princes Motorway, https://www.waze.com/livemap?zoom=13&la ... =150.93661
which has been fixed and i'm guessing is the reason behind this topic, also the closures last month for Sculptures by the Sea @ Bondi were entered as 24h closures over the 2 week event, even though i'm pretty sure a lot of them were only day time closures.
Waze is Awesome.

Very similar to anthndp's post, there is currently a major upgrade of the M4 Western Motorway. Apart from a reduced speed limit, most of the construction currently is taking place outside of the roadway and will not affect wazers directly, yet there are many seperate reports along this stretch that seem to be 24hr.

Yet, when there are actually road or lane closures, no reports or closures are entered. This seems inconsistent.

I fear that with all these reports along this road, wazers may suffer notification fatigue and end up ignoring the reports.

This one's been reported in Chatswood NSW for the last several days. There's no such roadworks. Not even a hint of one. It's not on the RMS website either. No idea what the source of this report is apart from "NSW Gov".

Even stranger is that there are 11 "thumbs ups". I suspect this recurring report daily is giving itself a thumbs up.

Oh, I realise I can copy & paste screenshots from Waze live maps, so here's the Chatswood one from Live Maps:

Here are a few close together that I copied from my phone a few nights ago. I drive this road almost every day. There is no daytime roadworks & the signs keep popping up as I drive. Once again, nothing on the RMS website. These reports are still on the Waze app right now, but interestingly, Live Maps is right now reporting these same reports as variously coming from Wazers, NSW Gov or Intelematics, giving slightly information to the Waze app. For example:

Another one. No such roadworks, at least during the day time. Nothing on the RMS website.
