I miss something or I have a translation problem?
"Clean round about" always worked, on FF, not Chrome.

Is it time to just retire the Extended Tools once and for all? We've all seen the damage they can do to the map in the wrong hands & since they no longer work properly I think this would be the best time to retire them.

Several of their functions have been replicated & built on by other tools, for example, the Highlighter Tools offer much more information & functionality than the Segment List ever did.

I'm confused as to how the Highlighter Tools can't help with this. Highlighter Tools uses the same data the Segment List in ET uses (actually more, because ET doesn't look at the Alt Cities property). You still have to be zoomed in to areas where you can see all the segments with "Street" type for them to appear in both tools. I've tracked down more issues related to smudges & incorrect states with the Highlighter Tools than I ever found with ET...

Stefan -
A few things...

1) I wrote my post before you posted about working on the update. I brought this up mainly because it's a logical point to consider retiring ET - it's not currently working. Retirement would also save someone (you) a lot of time if they didn't have to re-code the project. Even though I support the retirement, I was simply posing the question to the group as a whole.

2)
beffl wrote:I do understand your fear! And yes you can damage maps with this tool. But you can also damage maps in the same way without using that tool! Perhaps not so quick, but definitely you can!
We've all see the SERIOUS damage that can be done using ET with just a few mouse clicks & bypassing all warnings that are built into WME. For example, with ET it's possible to delete the City and/or Street property from a street completely, in WME if you delete the street name from one or more segments (multi-select) and don't check the "No Street" checkbox, you get a warning & can't apply the change or save.

3)
beffl wrote:You didn’t write about the positive aspects of the tool like you are much faster during editing. Renaming major Highw which have different cities but the same Name was awful for me for instance etc.
I did significant work on the Freeways & Major Highways in Connecticut WITHOUT using the extended tools. Yes, it took time, but the work that was done fixed several denied straight-through turns, which you wouldn't find using ET. Any renaming I did was either multi-select, or select entire street, but only within a town.

4)Since you are continuing development, I would highly suggest implementing some features that limit access to the more dangerous parts of ET. The Highlighter Tools already do this - where the Advanced Features are only available to Area Managers & above.

5)
beffl wrote:Sorry but your arguments are not adequate for retiring that tool. It helps too much!
Simply dismissing my opinion without even seeing the arguments for retirement is disrespectful & just plain rude.

after installing the Extended Tools in Firefox 17 the map doesn't show up. What am I doing wrong? I read that there was an editor update two days ago, might this be the reason?
I have greasemonkey 1.5 installed and Extended Tools 1.6.5.

Thanks for any help.
ET in the current form breaks the editor (not the update two days ago, the one before that one), which is what started this larger debate, several people want the tools completely retired, others want them modified for security reasons, still others want them back in either their existing form or more powerful.

I believe you are totally wrong !!!!
Showing the problem to waze it was able to edit 1350 segments in one click, multiply per 1,5 points and you get 2025 points in 30 seconds.
Repeat such an operation ten times in an hour wathching tv...and guess how many points you get !!!!

I managed to get the WME - Extended Tools running again under FF:

Just download http://world.waze.com/forum/download/file.php?id=6126 the file (ist from Fench forum), unzip it and open in a texteditor.
The in Greasemonkey got to edit user script (hope it is the right translation; I'm using german language)
Go to WME Extented tools and hit adjust or edit (german sorry), than on the bottom there is a large button named somthing like "edit this user script". Now the script should open (or you have to define a texteditor before) and you can copy the new script which you have downloaded before and paste it into the original, save it und restart FF.

That worked for me!
