GPS points color

Post by persunde
When showing GPS point in the editor, what do the different colors indicate?

I assume they indicate the certainty of a point. So good GPS reception would produce a green dot and bad/inaccurate GPS reception would be indicated by a red dot.

But what are the blue ones and black ones?

A map legend in the editor would be nice.

Please see this Wazeopedia section on GPS Tracks. Also, this chart shows the colors of the arrows. As turbomkt states, it just shows the collective tracks of Waze users.

Can anyone give a comprehensive chart showing and explaining what each colour GPS point means, please?

I could be wrong, but I believe they are colored different so you can tell the individual tracks apart.

Thank you, that explains a lot actually.

The "filter low weighing points" option filters out all my GPS points. There are none left whatsoever. Is that normal?

A weight system where good GPS reception "weighs" more than bad GPS reception would be really usefull. In some areas I can clearly see GPS points that are inaccurate at best. Other areas are a mess, and it's a pain to choose where in the GPS clutter to actually place the road.

There are a number of options for GPS point colouring. Look at the View Panel while you have that layer enabled.

The two important ones are "Color tracks" and "Color by azimuth". "Color tracks" is the default, and each colour represents a different drive. Therefore, all green points were created at the same time, all red points, and so on. "Color by azimuth" colours the points based on the direction of travel, allowing you to determine this without using "Display as arrows"; it is the most useful colour scheme, in my opinion.

Yes, most of the other options don't seem to work, so I don't use them. I'm not sure what "weight" means with regard to the points, anyway.
