Coventry > Bishop Street > Is it correct?

Hey all,

Whenever I am routing myself to West Orchards Car Park (Smithford Way) I always get routed this way: https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=row&lo ... ueFilter=1

I avoid this way though as I'm not actually sure if this is the correct way to get to West Orchards, as the road signs direct you off the Ringroad, down Upper Well Street, Lamb Street, Chapel Street, Well Street, Corporation Street and onto Smithford Way.

Or is this a temporary change? As I know there are some kind of bus restrictions down there. I know the simplest way to figure this out would be to drive down there, but I don't fancy any bus lane gate/lane fines ;)

I've been meaning to get up to Corporation St knowing that it has altered from the current Waze set-up.

The permanent route into West Orchards is Lamb St > Chapel St > Well St > Corporation St -- Exit via Corporation St towards Belgrade Plaza. Waze was not routing this due to a restriction between Chapel St & Well St, which I've removed.

Having briefly been though Bishop St / Tower St it looks like the bus gate on Tower St is not in operation giving private vehicles an exit out of Bishop St back to the Ring Road J1.

The bus / taxi restriction into the eastern end of Corporation St is still on a temporary sign, though the council website claims it is a permanent set-up.

Yeah, that's my plan. If I go down that way and can't continue I can go down the road towards Bishop Street Car Park and turn around. Will share my results later :)

So, I've made some discoveries.

This turn is for Buses/Taxis ONLY (L4 to fix) so I ended up driving this circle and realising that I was stuck, as if I went straight onto Bishop Street from Burges I then can't turn right because of the bus lane.. so I ended up having to disobey the signs and turn left from the Burges onto Corporation Street...

Going to write a complaint to Coventry Council as it's obvious that once you get into this loop there is no way of exiting it without breaking one of the restrictions. Yet another high quality road design from the Council!

I haven't been to Cov since the changes were brought in so can't say what is correct.

In terms of driving the route, as long as you don't blindly follow it, rather keep your eyes open for Bus/taxi only signs you won't get a fine. The signs would have to be at a location from which you can still take an alternative route. And if that happens, Waze will recalculate for you once you start down the alternative route.

Then you can come back to WME and mark the roads correctly for everyone. Happy days!
