Papyrus issues

Postby AggieJM » Tue Jan 24, 2012 2:21 pm

I've been away for a few days and logged in this morning to see the new version of Papyrus was available. It looks like it has a lot of new features, but I can't seem to get it to work in either Chrome or Firefox. When I use it through Chrome, it is extremely slow to respond and usually get a non-responsive page error whenever I'm trying to use it. When I try in Firefox, I'm not able to see any properties when I select an item.

I didn't see any other topics about this when I searched, so is it just me this morning? Or is everyone having issues? I was able to use Cartouche without any problems, so it didn't seem to be a connectivity issue.

Yes, please turn off the Editable Areas layer. We'll have to add that to the list of known issues. This performance problem with that layer just appeared in the last week.

Just don't make the mistake I did. When I clicked on the layers icon, I accidentally held the button for a second and moved the map. I was lucky enough to get to wait another 3 minutes to turn the layer off. However, it did indeed fix the speed issue.

Yeah, editable area fixed it for me too. Luckily if you do it before you attempt to move the map, you can get it done. Otherwise, pretty much have to kill Chrome.

I'm having similar issues with the new version of Papyrus today using Chrome and Firefox on XP. Caches cleared and it's still sloooow.

Chrome is reporting that the tab in which Papyrus is open is using 460 MB of memory by itself.

It's especially bad at high zoom levels.

If you are zoomed pretty far out and cannot get the editor to run long enough even to close the Editable Areas layer, add a ?zoom=5 to the end of the URL. The editor will be manageable enough to turn the layer off.

The only thing I can suggest is to clear your browser cache.

As mentioned in another thread, turn off the editable areas layer if it is on. Real performance killer.
