This is what you need to do to delete a favorite on Android, seriously stupid but it's how it's done. Favorites cannot be deleted in the favorites list, only in the history list.
1. Open Waze android app
2. select main menu icon in bottom left corner
3. This window consists of the settings button in the top left corner and the power button in the top right corner. It should also have your account name, then the search bar, then a list of places. If you have your Home and Work set these will be listed first, then your Favorites button that will take you to your list of favorites. Under that is a history list of places you've selected.
4. The places in the history will have a share icon to the right side of each place. This is how you delete places, including places in your favorites list. Only places with the share icon can be swiped to the right and the delete button (trash can on a red button) will be shown.
5. If your Favorite place that you want to delete is in the history list (it will be shown with a grey star on the left side and the share icon on the right side), swipe to the right and select the trash can. Waze will ask you if you're sure, select Remove. Your favorite as now been deleted.
6. To confirm deletion select Favorites and that place should not be in your favorites list.

If your favorite place you want to delete is not in the history list:
1. Select Favorites, select the place that you want to delete, stop navigation.
2. Select main menu icon, now that place should be in your history list with the share icon to the right side right below your Favorites button.
3. Swipe to the right and select the trash icon. Wallah, it's deleted. Is that the stupidest procedure you've ever had to follow to delete something?

The grayed out star is to represent that it's a favorite. Of course, when you're in the Favorites window the star is redundant. However, when you're in the history list it may be useful there to indicate where that place is coming from, i.e., it's in the Favorites list. The three menu type bars allows you to rearrange your favorites in the list. Touch and drag up or down on a favorite place and the list is reordered.
