Not many people are authorized to see this forum. It is titled "TTS New Voice - Testers" and currently has 34 members, 62 posts in 7 topics. It is a child of the Localization forum.

The only way I knew about the new voice, originally, was via direct email from Waze. I assume they/someone created this forum based on those who volunteered. I did not volunteer because there's enough stuff I do for Waze and I didn't need another thing to remember to test, give feedback for, which is then ignored.

The map update cycle is failing on the NA server, but if there are existing segments which have the following abbreviations, please find a way to re-test client TTS and post the results:

Dr.
Penn
BUS
St.
Jr.
CR-###
Intl
Int'l
Nat'l
SH-###
Thwy

So, if that's the case, how to we get this fixed for "Pkwy", "Expy", "Tpk", etc.? Add to the Google Docs table?
It should be tested carefully. I have not seen any examples, personally, where "N" failed to pronounce "North" as it usually would be expected to.

They've been around a while waiting to be added, and I've been working with Orit to implement them correctly.

Perhaps it was. I couldn't tell from the spreadsheet if it was working or not, as "Thwy" was marked as "Throughway" but also has "A" in the last column, meaning it needed to be added. Was a bit confusing.

My thought exactly. I defined the rule similarly to how N=north is defined, which is different than all the other cardinals, which may also explain why @txemt has noted that is seems "xyz Pkwy N" pronounces "enn" rather than "north." I will be checking on this.

DwarfLord wrote:Can I suggest adding "Mt." (or Mt?) for "Mount" to the "usual suspects" list? Rarer than the others perhaps, but even in my neighborhood there is a "Mount Hermon Rd". We spell it out now and nobody's in a hurry to change that, but it would be nice to know if we could abbreviate if we wanted to.

Edit: In Washington there must be a "Mt St Helens Dr" or something like it somewhere :)
I can't believe that "Mt" or "Mt." is not in the BIG list at all. Unless we need to differentiate, I suggest just "Mt" = "mount"

Already, MT = "mountain" according to the big list.
