[NEW PAGE] Waze:Wazeopedia

Post by PesachZ
I have been working on a page to be the information hub, and starting point for info on the Wazeopedia project. I have also designed it with the intention of it being the target of the GlobalMark template. Please take a look and provide feedback.

It is still a work in progress, but I feel it already contains enough accurate relevant data to be published.

The long term vision is for this page to be an overview and link out to more detailed pages covering the indivual topics, and guidance.

Good job PesachZ, but you already know my opinion on this content

However, I've 2 remarks

1 - This thread is in the public "Wiki Updates and Discussion" forum, but the debate that have pushed us to create this page is in the Wiki Master subforum. I'm just wondering if the public audience is perfectly understanding the the whys and wherefores of this New Page and thus if they will assess the relevance of this page with the right angle.

2 - Without challenging at all the content we have gather in this new page, I've however a concern on the length of the page, which is already quite long though there is big on-build section not yet fulfilled. I'm not at ease with long page, feared that some user would be reluctant to read it due to the length.

The common user will arrive on this page because he has noticed the {{GlobalMark}} caption and has clicked on the wazeopedia link. Does he then expect to have a exhaustive article (detailing all concepts, inception, project, structure, change control protocol, process flow, wiki roles, good usage of templates, which namespace to use, and so one so forth) or does he then expect to have a quick overview, at a glance, of what is "Wazeopedia" and the reason why there is a specific change control ?

I like the idea of the "hub" you've mentioned in the Wiki Master forum thread. And I think that this page should be structured as a quick overview followed by a hub of links pointing on several articles (i.e. individual wiki pages stored in the "Waze:" namespace), each of them dealing with one facet of the Global Page edition : history of the project, definitions of the wiki words (instance, template, namespace, ...), structure of Wazeopedia (Global vs. Local), how to move your local wiki into wazeopedia, roles in the wiki editions, change control process, how to create a new page, how to make a good usage of templates and nuggets, which namespace to use, ...

These pages are excellent. The main Wazeopedia info page is particularly well organized, comprehensive, well worded, and easy to follow. Nice work!

These are great points.

I published in the public forum since this will be a public viewable page in accordance with the wiki guidelines any change should be processed in this forum. Ive made notice in the Wiki Masters forum pointing here.

I do want this page to eventually be a hub. But first I was filling in the content, then I was planning to separate it out into Nuggets, and the longer sections would have just a summary and link to the detailed subpage.

But as I mentioned in my OP, that is work which can continue after the page is live. Having a long page is better than no page at all, so I recommend publishing, and we can continue to work on it as it is live.

For the viewers being directed here by the {{GlobalMark}} banner, they will likely read to the Global section where there is a conspicuous warnign box directing them straight to the etiquette and change protocol.

Yes though the current focus is finalizing the local transfer packages, and concluding the initial beta testing of the new platform to prepare for public launch.
