It is possible (my guess), that waze uses some special communication protocols or ports - other than just https on port 443. And those are just not allowed on the WAP APN by the carrier...

Weird. For more troubleshooting it would be better to have access to your phone. If possible try to contact leaders of local community and meet with them. Maybe they will be able to find the root of your problem.

*** Solved *****

On my wife's Samsung On5 on the T-Mobile network I was able to resolve the problem by changing the "Wi-Fi Calling Settings" preferences from "Wi-Fi Preferred" to "Cellular Network Preferred"

Went to: Settings > More connection settings > Wi-Fi Calling >
Options are: 1) Wi-Fi Preferred
2) Cellular Network Preferred
3) Never use Cellular Network

I chose: 2) Cellular Network Preferred

After the change I opened the Waze app and it had stopped stopped cycling on "searching network", and seemed to work fine.

(Previously we were stuck using our home internet <1) Wi-Fi Preferred> option because we had a poor cell signal in the house. After we received a cell phone booster we were able to receive usable cellular service <2) Cellular Network Preferred>.)

Arek28,
Next time try setting phone to Airplane mode and then off Airplane mode again and see if it resumes connection to network. That has helped with mine.
Good Luck!

Anyway it's kind of strange that only Waze has problems with WAP access points, maybe they could look into it in order to avoid similar problems with other users.

WHAT solved your problem PLEASE

I was having the "searching network" issue the past three weeks and may have found the solution for my iPhone 6. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Bingo!!

I had been switching between my dash cam Wi-Fi and home Wi-Fi before the problem started. WAZE support suggested logging in and out of my account (no solution here) and also sending them a report log. I thought more about that error message and decided to search my phone for related network buttons. Coincidently, this morning the message popped up as I left the garage (and I remembered I was switching Wi-Fi settings last night). So I hit the Reset Network Settings button at the next stop sign and the route came up as expected - no more "searching network." I hope this helps everyone.

I see that pretty often. I normally retry it again after a few minutes and it typically works then. I also see "searching network" frequently too, but navigation seems unhindered.
