[SUPPORT] Routing doesn't consider Day of Week

Post by
Waze doesn't seem to consider time of day/night when calculating ETAs.
It should take less time to get to your destination when driving off peak hours than during rush hours.
At least if you drive in a city like São Paulo, with its 19 millions inhabitants.
I have an example where it shows that something is strange with the calculated ETAs. I have chosen to show the same route at different time of day/night to show my point.
The route goes from the airport straight into the "heart" of São Paulo.

It's really unrealistic that it should take the same time driving this route during off peak hours and during rush hours!!

I'm sticking to a slightly less optimistic opinion that something has merely changed. Improved remains to be seen.

Right now I was verifying some routes and I saw that I could get much different ETAs within the same minute.
You're not seeing what you think you're seeing. This is a known problem, you're getting different results depending on which routing server handled your request. This is in fact a data convergence issue. Part of Waze's infrastructure upgrades I believe has been the conversion from PostgreSQL to one of the several NoSQL solutions.

It also implies the granularity is 10 minutes, but that may just be the widget asking for ETAs in 10 minute intervals.

On my routes waze uses the average speed for the time of day when calculating the ETA.

(I'm not sure how the widget would work otherwise.)

Yes, it generally seems to work for me. But I haven't turned waze on without being told that were at least 500 wazers near me (since that feature was added here), so its not entirely clear whether it is working because it is using good historic data for the time period, or whether waze actually has good realtime data for my routes.

For what its worth, I can say that I submitted a request to support regarding the similar issues raised here. In the past couple of days, I received response stating that it is a known issue and they're waiting for a server upgrae to fix it.

This may sound like a stupid question, but are there many Wazers in Brazil or Slovakia? Waze can't give a correct eta if it doesn't have enough traffic data for those times.

Using our Wazestats ;) http://wazestats.drajsajtl.cz/ba_week.html
Cool:)
Do you know if I can find that for other cities too?
Thanks
We are now trying to have it for some european cities, e.g. Paris is cool:

Yes, all capitals. PM me with GPS coordinates of top-left and bottom-right corners of rectangle covering Amsterdam to have it sooner. But my fault that I wrote the previous comment here. It's running off the topic pretty fast. ;)
