Since we are in the habit of discussion in the forum here, we might as well.

* I didn't consider that dashboard and logout were part of the top bar, any more than the support links and etc. All in? just dashboard and logout? I dunno

Here's what I would like to do:
1) Find any way in which the proposed content is inferior to the current content (other than sheer length of page). Correct that.
2) Get the proposed content into the current page
3) Then continue discussions and improvements -- wordsmithing, breaking down pages, etc.

This just gives us some continuous-improvement momentum
There were many things I COULD HAVE DONE to the proposed page, but did not, for this reason.

Great! I have actually gotten through phase I of this, and am aware modest changes will be needed in some sections, and considerable changes in some subsections after the next update

Purpose: Update this article to comprehensively cover the WME interface, leaving out "best practice", "how to", and "tutorial" type information that is best covered elsewhere. I think this is a necessary step before reorganizing some of our tutorial information to make it easier to find and use (tutorial and reference information currently covered to various degrees in [ur=https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Waze_Map_Editor/Welcome]Welcome[/url]

Summary: I took a copy of the current page and made some updates at

* Added a little introductory information from Waze Map Editor
* Added how to start the editor in practice mode and logged in
* In Layout, describe the parts of the screen as top bar, tool bar, left pane, map display area, and bottom bar (proposed vs current)
* Included description of layers menu in tool bar, since that is where it is found.
* Use the term "Left Pane" instead of "Tabs Area" for the information pane on the left.
* Added Settings Tab to Left Pane with no object selected
* took scale, lat/lon, and permalink out of map display area, and added to the bottom bar
* Added Chat window to map display area
* The GPS direction color code recently added by Wonderlerm has not been added to this guide
* The section on Permalinks is condensed. This version is briefer than the current version. It does not describe permissions, because permissions are not limited to the permalink interface.
* Moving Around the map has been replaced with working with the map
* A section on working with objects has been added
* The information on permissions has been given its own subsection

As I see it, the "interface guide" is the definitive guide, and should list all parts of the interface.
It could link out to the other guides, but should, at a minimum, list all these things.

I would like to add links to these things from this page.
