Belgium: A Sorry Tale
Hi,
Went to europe this summer. Specifically to see the Belgium GP and then to Italy to see the Italian GP.
Had my parking space booked in Belgium and Waze to guide me. I was extra impressed to see on the website for the Spa Grand Prix a big banner advert for Waze, encouraging people to download the app to help them get to and from the Grand Prix easier, avoiding traffic etc.. Excellent.
Imagine my disappointment when, on leaving each evening; Friday, Saturday and Sunday no road closures showed up.
I know there were closures proposed in advanced as I had seen street notices tied to lamp-posts. I know there were closures on my travels as almost everywhere I was guided to (anywhere near the circuit) by Waze was closed by police!
And yet nothing on Waze to indicate a thing except the read marks of jams everywhere! I even tried adding closures but after the second one was added, when trying to add the third, fourth, and others I just kept getting the screen to add the first closure.
Didn't the Belgium Country Managers and Admin team know about the Grand Prix? Do they not bother to add major events?
The great advert Waze paid for was utterly wasted due to the lack of effort from their editors and Country Management team.
Thanks for the experience!
