Centreville, MD Rt 213 Road Construction

Post by EasternShoreBoy
http://www.townofcentreville.org/libert ... n-project/

The town will be modifying traffic flow so that no traffic is permitted on Liberty Street and all traffic is 2 way on Commerce Street starting after New Years for about 9 months. This impacts all businesses, homes, parking, etc. Then all traffic will be switched back to Commerce Street with Liberty Street closed.

An added note after an email exchange with the project mgr for this construction
It will probably be "mid to end of September" for completion of the Liberty St phase of this project with a short delay to the closure of Commerce St

An update from Centreville on the progress of road construction and the return to normal 1 way traffic on both streets.

"Liberty Street / Commerce Street Timetable

The Town of Centreville was hopeful the traffic pattern would return to one-way on Liberty/Commerce/Water streets by the end of August, however based on Maryland State Highway’s bridge replacement work at the Gravel Run bridge (in front of Hardee's and Subway), the Town cannot complete their final water and sewer tie in work at the bottom of the hill on North Commerce Street until the bridge work progresses to a point their barricades are removed. We anticipate the return to one-way traffic pattern will occur toward the end of September. We will provide additional updates as new information arrives.

As always, we thank you for your patience."

It appears we are reaching the end of the Centreville Roads and bridges work. Following info is clipped from a Town of Centreville email update:

A message from the Maryland State Highway Administration:

We’ve got a few more weekend closures left to wrap up the MD 213 bridge replacements in Centreville. Here’s the current plan:

December 6-9 – MD 213 will be closed in both directions at Old Mill Stream Branch (south end of town) beginning at 10 p.m. Friday. Please note the town will close northbound MD 213 (Commerce St.) at Ridgeview Ave./Little Kidwell Ave. by 6:30 p.m. for its annual parade, and SHA may follow with single lane closures/flagging at the bridge beginning at 7 p.m. The full closure will begin at 10 p.m. and continue through the weekend with MD 213 reopening by 5 a.m. Monday morning.
December 13-16 – MD 213 will be closed at Gravel Run (north end of town) beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.
December 20-23 – MD 213 will be closed at Old Mill Stream Branch beginning at 7 p.m. Friday.
These closures are needed to complete mostly road-related work such as patching, paving, striping, guardrail installation, etc. While we don't anticipate needing the full closure period (through 5 a.m. Monday) for any of these weekends, motorists should plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for travel just in case. This work is weather-dependent. SHA also is evaluating the possibility of combining the latter two planned closures into one weekend but this has not yet been decided.

Many thanks as always for your patience!

Another editor, local to this area has initiated the changes necessary for the new construction pattern, making Commerce Street 2-way. We'll set up a real-time closure on Liberty Road; although it is "local traffic only", we feel local drivers will know the best way to access their homes and businesses, and prevent "through-routing" by others.

As construction progresses, let us know if any changes need to be made, or if something isn't working as expected.

thanks!
