Hmm, I was really excited about Waze, but after last Saturday I'm less excited .....

I used Waze for a route of about 80 kilometer. This went very well. However, before my return journey, within 10 minutes of my arrival time, I was no longer able to enter a destination on my CarPlay display. I only saw the location where I was, but I couldn't do anything with it.
At my wits end, I unfortunately used Apple Maps for the return journey. Yesterday, Sunday 14/02, Waze was fully available again.

I find this very annoying, because I can no longer lean on reliability.

Just for my understanding, just to be sure, force closing the app is by swiping it away. Right?

My RCD330 unit in my Volkswagen works fine with the settings set to Automatic. When the headlights are turned on, the screen is dark and when I leave a tunnel for example the screen is turned back to the light modus. This works fine together with the automatic settings of my car.

iPhone 13 Pro Max - Apple CarPlay

GPS remains active after shutting down Apple CarPlay

Hello Community,

Recently I dusted off Waze again and started Wazing again. By the way, I do this regularly, switching between the various, by strong preference free, Navigation providers. As soon as I get tired of that one again I switch to another. For example, I regularly switch between Apple Maps (which has the nicest 3D layout), TomTom and Waze. Google Maps I find hideous.

But that aside, as mentioned, I'm back to Waze. Immediately I ran into an objection point in combination with Apple CarPlay, GPS remains active after getting out of the car and thus closing CarPlay. I now have this in my current car with an after market Andream MMI Adapter with wireless CarPlay as in my previous car, a Renault, with OEM wired CarPlay. After getting out of the car, GPS remains active which is visible by the blue clock on the top left of my iPhone screen. If I then click on this blue icon, Waze opens and as soon as I then manually swipe Waze away and thus close it, the blue GPS indication disappears.

I was going to invent a "Siri command" for this, but don't know how yet. On the other hand, Waze, since this crept in, you guys should be able to get this out.

Thanks in advance.

iPhone 13 Pro Max - Apple CarPlay

Iphone x - 12.3.1
Waze - 4.52.5

CarPlay on Alpine Head unit - ilx-f930d (brand new)

Issue;

When using Waze - The map on headhunt is correct but instead of my car traveling up the map it appears to be traveling down the map (backwards). It gets confused easily at junctions etc. It will dance around on different roads. Speedo in corner freezes or clearly displays incorrect. It is unusable.

Feels like a GPS type issue or communication to apple CarPlay from Waze. (i'm no expert).

Tried;

uninstalling/reinstaling app
different usb to lightning cable

toggled various setting (map pointing north) etc

I see lots of Subaru's on other forums having the same issues. I think its an iphone x/xr issue (but might be wrong). I dont know if its a Waze issue or an Apple issue.

Does anyone have any advice?

Just a simple Waze user :-)

I have only been able to get audible alerts like that using Waze in my Bmw with apple CarPlay when it’s in navigation mode. If I just turn on Waze without navigating somewhere it runs fine but the alerts only pop up on screen and are silent . If anyone knows how to get around this it would be much appreciated as I hate having to navigate all the time to places I already know how to get to just to hear the audible alerts.

I recently bought a new car (Mercedes Benz CLA 180) and tried using Apple CarPlay in it. Everything else work except navigation. When I use either Waze or Apple maps, the current location gets constantly switched between the actual current location and somewhere in the middle of the sea near Thailand every now and then. Even apps like Find iPhone also shows the same incorrect location when maps are showing the wrong location. All apps works fine when not using CarPlay.

I tested with two iPhone X devices (mine and my wife's) with iOS 12 and I see the same issue on both.
Tested with an iPhone 6s running iOS 11 and still the GPS issue is there.
Tested with Google Maps on Android Auto on my brother's phone and it works correctly!

Has anyone ever seen anything similar?
Are there any known bugs in iOS that could cause something like this?

Loving the new CarPlay integration, FINALLY get to use this.

Feature suggestions: When an active route is present the top bar auto-hides. When there is NO route to be followed, the top bar is always present. That last 10% of screen real estate at the top, in 3D mode, contains a LOT of information about what's upcoming.

I recommend auto-hiding the top toolbar always (configurable, of course) and have it appear with a simple screen tap. I believe this is how both Google Maps and Apple Maps work.

I do not like how Waze looks on my CarPlay (Hyundai Elantra). I want to disable it so when I plug my phone to the Car via USB and turn on Waze, the map stays on my phone (presently the map goes to the CarPlay screen while the step by step is on my phone).
I went into my iPhone settings and disabled the Waze icon in CarPlay. So when I look at the CarPlay icons, Waze is no longer there. However, as soon as I plug my phone in to charge via USB, the Waze map appears in CarPlay as previously. The icon is still not there.
Very annoying. Is there a way to stop Waze from going to CarPlay when connected via USB?
Thanks in advance.
