Use Waze to find people to Carpool or Vanpool.

In Southern California, we have Ridematch that will help search for carpools and vanpools based on your home and work locations.

Since Waze already allows you to set up a home and work location, how about extending this feature to allow you to search for people who live in your area and commute to somewhere near your workplace?

Maybe have an additional feature to "check" a box to participate in a carpool program. Then it'll ask for when you start and end work everyday. People who checked that box with a similar work schedule and commute will show up on your searches.

Not an ideal solution, but how about editing the map and adding a carpool landmark/poi?
Put a contact email as part of the name and then interested parties could email you.
Obviously this would require you to take ownership of the idea though.

Waze get ideas for new features from here (http://waze.uservoice.com). Of course, the most voted ideas have a greater possibility of being implemented.
I just posted an idea that goes in the same way of this topic. If you guys could vote, it would be great.

Of course.. this is exactly why I'm suggesting that Waze should implement this.. there are many sites that help match carpoolers but they are regional and not well utilized.

This should work whether it's in America, Europe, China, etc. as long as there are Wazers with all of the following criteria:

- Their "Home" location setting in Waze is fairly close to your Home location (let's say 10 km.)
- Their "Work" location setting in Waze is also fairly close to your Work location (let's say 10km.)
- They have an option "I want to participate in Carpool programs" checked.

Then you can hit a button saying "Search for potential Carpool partners" and anyone that meets the above criteria will be found.
