New bug, Chrome 48.0.2564.82 (64-bit) on El Capitain shows a little black bar extending down from the top os the screen. Turned off all other scripts, TB, was the only one that, when off, the bar went away.

and:
right click on the black bar -> inspect element and tell us what dom element is highlighted.
Thanks.
Reset did not work, below is a screenshot of the console. When the console is opened, the bar shifts up to cover the save icon.

Not for the first time either, the devs have a track record of making cosmetic changes like this which appear to provide zero benefit to the native code but which force script writers into tracking down the changes, working out what fix is required, testing said fix to make sure it hasn't broken something else, and finally rolling out a release...

Each time this happens, it becomes ever so slightly harder to believe that the devs really aren't out to screw us, and that there really is a cast-iron reason why they *had* to make this change and oh sorry if it broke your scripts, it's just an unfortunate side effect of what we needed to do...

Sometimes I wonder why we continue to bother donating so much time, energy and talent into turning WME into a tool suitable for anything beyond casual editing, when Waze themselves seem so disinterested in either doing the work themselves or at least not making it a complete ballache for those of us who are willing to do the work for them. Considering how much value they get out of our work, you might think they'd be slightly more prepared to accept that third party scripts are, whether they want to admit it or not, an essential part of editing for anyone beyond the newest of editors, and work with us even just the tiniest bit.

Yeah yeah, I know, wishful thinking :|

And since they still had a bucket full of underscore characters to use up, they've also decided to rename the .events property of every object I've looked at so far to ._events... for the love of [$preferred_deity_name] Waze, WHYYYYYYY???

Ah... now it makes sense, _events isn't just a renamed version of events, it's a completely different property with none of the useful stuff that events had. So now the question is, where the hell has all of that been hidden

iainhouse wrote:I've discovered a problem, indirectly caused by the inability to move the Toolbox toolbar onto the blue bar.

If the Toolbox toolbar is anywhere near the top of the screen and directly below the Toolbox menu icon on the blue bar, it can "interrupt" the menu. If you hover over the icon, the pop-up menu appears. If you then start to move downwards along the menu and cross the toolbar, the menu instantly disappears!

I've always positioned the toolbar on the blue bar (partly obscuring the address search box) to avoid losing screen estate. Now I have it flush against the blue bar and I can't get into the Toolbox menu at all unless I move the toolbar out of the way. Note that this problem may not be directly due to the WME update. It's only now I've had to re-position it that the problem has become apparent.

I can see 2 possible solutions. The first is to play with the z-index so the menu appears over the toolbar.

The other is to implement a solution that Twister-UK has done for the WMEOpenData script, which also has a floating element. This used to cause exactly the same problem with "interrupting" drop-down menus from the blue bar. He makes his element hide itself whenever a native menu is open.

I will also use this opportunity to make an additional request. If you use the second solution, you will see how Twister detects an open native menu. If you can pass on to him the relevant details for your menu, he might be able to hide the OpenData element when that is open. ;)
Only just seen this post... If you do spend a bit of time looking into how the WMEOD script behaves with regards the menus, you may also want to look into how it renders its own floating element, as the way I've done it allows it to be positioned anywhere within the browser window.

The WME devs have done a particularly good job of introducing script-breakers into the latest beta update, so expect to see more things failing in graceful or not so graceful ways until we can all get our heads around just WTF they've done and then figure out cunning ways to restore correct operation to our own code...

How about migrating the Toolbox to the tab in the left pane? The challenges with the top bar would no longer be an issue, and TB UI would be more like the majority of scripts.

Make sure you are on the latest version? I have no problems with it.
